VISION STATEMENT

To be safe haven for the people of the Armadale and surrounding communities where lives are affected by the good news of Jesus Christ.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Christian Outreach Centre “Under His Wings Inc.” aims to serve the Armadale and surrounding communities with Christian love, by providing you with an environment that allows for the building of relationships and so promotes and supports your physical, emotional and spiritual well being.

We do this through prayerful consideration, without discrimination inspired by the Holy Bible where we find our mandate and motivation to reach out to you.

It is our ultimate vision to share the Gospel in order to see your lives transform by the power of God.

We were founded in 2004 by the founder Michael Dykstra, as a place where those who were unprivileged were able to drop in and have a chat over a cup of Coffee. Inspired for his love for Christ, Michael’s desire was to share that love with others who were in need of help and did whatever possible to lift people up so they could experience a true sense of love and share it with others. Michael’s efforts had great reward, in that the gospel of Jesus Christ was shared with many who have since come to know that truth and made changes in their lives in reflection of this. There have been some who have since been taken home to glory and now experience the complete joy and peace which the gospel promised them.

Over the years the organisation transformed into what it is today, a place which helps and encourages others to grow in life and take the next step in their journey.

For those who are homeless there is emergency relief provided by way of a daily shower, meals, clothing and food, all of which comes from the almighty hand of our loving and compassionate God.

There are others who struggle with addiction and require support on the road of recovery. Here at the Outreach Centre, we offer a non-residential program where the individual is encouraged to be an active member of the community by way of participating in group and individual counselling along with daily voluntary work at the centre. Here each person, struggling with addiction, is guided and supported on a path to positive living through acknowledgment that their lives are in the hands of Jesus Christ and through Him all things are possible, including recovery from addiction.

Once a week the facility is open to anyone in the community who would just like to have a sense of longing. This day is a day where all come together and just enjoy each other’s company and encourage each other. It is also a day where we get together to nurture the vegie garden and utilise the workshop to build things from wood. Overall this is a day where so much love and joy is shared and the message of hope in Jesus Christ is reiterated.

Over the past year we have also been able to set up a counselling service, free of charge, for those who are struggling with day to day issues such as addiction, depression, anxiety etc. We recognise that God is the foundation of all our lives and that by trusting in Him and the rules of life given to us in His word, the Holy Bible, we can experience a true and lasting peace. Utilising the Bible, humbly and prayerfully, we counsel anyone who wants to make a change in their personal and spiritual lives and help them better understand the ways of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

As we are reminded in the Book of Proverbs;

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
